Managing Organisational Change in Schools
A one-day workshop for leaders in schools and education settings which seeks to explore the complexities of managing organisations which are currently facing unprecedented levels of change.

Psychoanalytic Supervision for Counsellors  Working in Educational Settings
This is an opportunity for counsellors and other education professionals working in a counselling capacity in schools and further education, to join a small supervision group in order to develop psychoanalytic thinking and apply it to their work.

Supervision for Supervisors of Child Psychotherapists
This course is open to qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists responsible for supervision.

Trauma: The Child, The Family and The Worker
Children and their families are often referred following traumatic events. These events resonate through the family, and workers themselves can feel traumatised by constant exposure to clients’ distress.

Working with Personality Disorder, Severely Ill and Complex Patients *new*
Qualified psychotherapists/analysts can join the Tavistock and Portman’s Fitzjohn’s Unit to learn about and to participate in our approach to patients suffering with severe personality disorder, borderline states and psychotic illness.

Working with Traumatised Patients
Supervised clinical work with experienced clinicians will be undertaken with a variety of traumatised patients at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust’s Trauma Service. Placements will be available in three sites – City and Hackney Primary Care Service, Home base Veterans project and the British Red Cross refugee service.    

Systemic Work: Moving on with theory and practice
The course is designed to meet the training needs of professionals working or hoping to work with couples, families and systems in Mental Health Trusts and other settings such as Social and Health Care and Voluntary Agencies. Counselling practitioners in private practice may also find this course useful.

Understanding Couples
This half-day workshop is designed for counsellors and psychotherapists working with couples in the course of their work and professionals working with parents.

Understanding the Mental Health Needs of School Children: A Workshop for Education Professionals
This series of workshops is for education professionals working in primary and secondary school settings in various roles, including Learning Mentors, Heads of Year, Learning Support Unit Co-coordinators, pastoral care co-coordinators, SENCOs and teachers.

Infant CARE – Index Training
The Infant CARE-Index is a useful, portable tool for a wide range of Health and Social Care Professional whose work involves assessing and mounting interventions to improve parent-child interaction in the first 15 months of the child’s life.  

Safeguarding Children Level 3 Training
The Tavistock Clinic Level 3 safeguarding training is modelled on the core competencies as outlined in the ‘Safeguarding Children and Young People’ 2010.

Short Course on Developing Skills in Collaborative Work with Parental Mental Illness

A 10-week course offering the opportunity to reflect on good practice examples of work developed over recent years by mental health practitioners from a range of ethnic backgrounds and theoretical orientations.

Workshops for Designated and Named Child Protection Professionals
The work of child protection is stressful and emotionally demanding and the emotionally painful dynamics engendered by child protection work can make decision making very complex and difficult. We are offering 2 CPD workshops for named and designated child protection professionals – one for doctors and one for nurses.

Following 2 successful one-day workshops looking at some fundamental aspects of trauma as well as looking at experiences of children in the care system, we are now pleased to offer 3 half-day workshops on specific traumas: sexual abuse, marital violence and refugees.

This short course will provide an opportunity for clinicians, educators and managers in the NHS to develop their skills in team facilitation and conflict resolution in the workplace.
